The Case for Why It's So Important to Cherish Ephesians 6:4

State of The Culture and Church

Part of doing all we humanly can to be used by God to grow his Kingdom and bring him glory requires an ongoing assessment of our victories and defeats. There can be no doubt that the culture in which we live and breathe is in a rapid and steep decline and while we can rejoice in the work that some churches are doing, we should be deeply concerned about the vast majority of churches and their woeful lack of faithfulness to the mission God has entrusted to them.

Biblical Mandates

What does the Bible say to Christian parents and church leaders about parents raising their children in the discipline and Instruction of the Lord? Is there a mandate for parents and Church leaders? Church leaders, commonly referred to as pastors, elders, deacons, and shepherds, have been given one of the most noble and important tasks on this earth. For parents, knowing God’s will for your children is one of the most important things in their lives. However, many parents may not have a full understanding of God’s high demands and will find this article challenging and convicting.

Reasons for Failure

No church leader would ever push back on the idea that Christian parents should raise their children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. However, my experience has been that almost every church leader I have met over the last 30 years has a different view on the “how” Christian parents should fulfill obedience to this noble commandment, particularly as it pertains to education. My experience with Christian parents has been somewhat similar and after thousands of conversations with parents about what our young people are learning each day in their schools, most parents continue to choose an anti-Christian school.

Fundamental Truths

Christians must know and apply what the Bible says about their children or the consequences of not doing so may be devastating to their souls. Here you will find some of the common misperceptions I have heard from parents about their children. These misperceptions fall into two main areas- the importance of the Bible, and the lack of understanding the devastating effects of sin on every person.
